About Me.....
Hi there! My name is Bhumi Chhabra and I am so glad you are here.
When I first started Masala Matters, I was told that it is a hobby- and yes it was! At least it was born out of a hobby of cooking. My son was starting college in 3 weeks, and I thought I finally have my life back!! As much as I felt sad that he was leaving, I also felt some weight lifted off me. Also, I had just retired from being a Science Olympiad Head coach and I had completed the goal of taking my team to nationals. My job was done as a mom AND as a coach! So, what next?

Masala Matters is born

My son, Shaan, who is my greatest food fan and and also my greatest food critic, inspired to be a coach first and now a creator of Masala Matters. He is my greatest supporter and his belief in me has put me where I am today.
Our fast paced lives steers us from cooking healthy, home made flavorful meals. I cringe when I see oil or butter floating on top of food. I do not want my food made in heavy cream. I wanted to change all that. I want my food clean, homemade, healthy, and yet absolutely delicious, made in no time! I wanted everyone who loves Indian food but either does not have enough time or is fearful of not creating that perfect Indian dish or both, to be able to cook indian food confidently and in a short time- we are talking 25 minutes or less from start to finish!
And hence for all the right reasons Masala Matters was born!

Why the name Masala Matters?

Why Masala Matters? Because it does! As you must have guessed, Masala Matters does have two meanings. Masala means spices- specifically spices of India. It matters because you cannot make curry without masala AND curry cooking is a matter of masalas!

Just a little more about me....

I live in Greenville, SC with my husband, Nish and my son Shaan.
Growing up in India, I can cook Indian in my sleep. My mother (perhaps the best cook I know), has taught me everything and the recipes I cook are a mixture of hers and mine. She thinks I am a better cook but I know she is one up. Moms are the best cooks, right? Mom, I miss your cooking so much!!

Y'all, welcome to Masala Matters and lose the fear of creating that perfect Indian dish!
